Vyacheslav Shraga (Cont.)
Russian, O/C, Image: 50" (H) x 39" (W), Signed
Vyacheslav Shraga is considered by many in the Russian art world as the heir to Marc Chagall. This wonderful painting of Joseph, Mary, and the infant Jesus demonstrates creativity and skill interpreting a familiar Biblical scene. One may be struck by the straightforwardness of Shragis art: it contains moving scenes, gentle hues and a clear balance of composition. However, behind this external attractiveness, there is a deeper hidden quality - a peculiar poetical drama. The key to the understanding of Shraga’s individual expression: eternal Biblical suffering, ironic wisdom, the free interaction of the real with the otherworldly, the poetic portrayal of earthly misfortunes and the richness of the human spirit- this is what makes Shraga the artist he has become.
