David A.C. Artz is a very well listed Dutch painter, a student and follower of Jozef Israels, and a renowned member of the "Hague School." David Adolf Constant Artz trained at the Amsterdam Academy and moved to Paris from 1866-1874, where he set up his own studio at the suggestion of the great artist Courbet. The Hague School is the name given to a group of painters who lived and worked in The Hague between the years 1860 and 1890. They imbued their paintings with a more realistic representation of what they saw, similar of the Barbizon School. Artz’s paintings are in many collections and museums worldwide.
