Ellen Donovan
American (b. 1903), Mixed Media, 11” (H) x 14” (W), Signed

This is an exciting painting by Ellen Donovan, a contemporary of Andrew Wyeth, a pioneer in the simplistic elegance followed by Donovan and other “New Hope” Pennsylvania artist. She was born in 1903 in Philadelphia and was a known painter, teacher, lecturer, and lithographer.  She was included in the WHO WAS WHO IN AMERICAN ART. She exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and her teacher was Hugh Breckenridge.
