Vadim Skopin Syssoyev
Russian (1879-1949), O/C, Image: 24" (H) x 28" (W), Signed
For the first part of his career, Vadim Syssoev used the name of his native town as his artistic pseudonym for many years, signing his works "Vadim de Skopin." This choice is an ironic nod to the masters of the past, who were often known by the cities of their birth or residence. Vadim Syssoev's art presents a great variety of styles, from studies of Renaissance or Rococo works to cubist compositions. Gustav Klimt and Paul Cezanne can be named as some of the traceable influences. Acquired from a Durham, NC art dealer.
