Charles Damrow
American (1916-1989), O/C, Image 16 x 21, Framed 25 x 21, Signed

A most beautiful Charles Damrow (1916-1989) painting. It is simply a gem. Oil painting on canvas, it shows a white horse as the focal point against the back drop of other horses and a landscape which resembles the area around the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. We know it is an early Damrow both because of the age of the canvas and the mastery and precision with which he has painted. A Cherokee Indian, Damrow drifted between acclaim and obscurity and had associations and friendships with many notable westerners, including Olaf Wieghorst, Barry Goldwater, Peter McDonald and Bill McGee. Source: Peggy and Harold Samuels, The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Artists of the American West. Condition: Painting professionally cleaned by our museum-qualified conservator. Provenance:  Acquired from an estate in Denver, Colorado.  Date of Origin: 1950.
